Panarama of front of Dana Fine Arts Building, October 2024

We are recultivating the spaces in and around Dana with sustainable and regenerative landcare: the entrance courtyards, including the lower sculpture area, and the secret garden at the back of the building off the new Dana Art Library & Reading Room.
We have removed invasive plants, which we plan to replace with native, pollinator-friendly choices. We are the third organic site on campus. We are committing to restoring and maintaining these spaces without synthetic herbicides. We hope our gardens will successfully demonstrate a method of earth care practices that we can continue to expand across campus and to our neighboring parks, lawns and fields.
We are involving multiple communities in Atlanta and beyond, and working in collaboration and consultation with the ongoing initiatives of our Center for Sustainability, Science Center for Women, and People for Pollinators as well as the City of Decatur, BeeCatur, Wylde Center, Oxford College Organic Farm, and Rewild Your Campus, among others.
