January 30

The crew from Appleseed Tree Company removed 2 truckloads of dessicated ivy from the north and east walls of the courtyard today. It was yet another revelation, in this case of the effects of light through and the views beyond the screen, now freed from 60 years of growth.

We are so grateful to Appleseed for their work today and to All Outdoor for their efforts in June, when we started this project. Our first step in the Building on Dana transformations, which they facilitated, was to cut the ivy at the roots so the summer sun could dry the vines. It has taken us longer than we intended to remove the remnants (and we thought we could do it ourselves!), but the transformation is even more spectacular than we anticipated.

Please make plans to join us on Friday, Feb. 7 for the opening celebration. We’re clearing, cleaning, creating, imagining.
