February 27
As part of the Building on Dana project, we have been working on an edition of artists’ books. We have just released our first 20. These are one of my favorite parts of the project/exhibition because they integrate important subjects in my own research on US postwar art and urbanism and they venture into the community, beyond the College.
As posts from the fall document, many of us met in the Dalton Gallery before sunrise and took to the streets, photographing 7 blocks of North and South McDonough to understand the contemporary urban context of the Dana Fine Arts Building. After months of uploading, comparing, editing, writing, revising both images and text, and more recent weeks of printing and scoring and trimming and folding, we have released our first books. They are on view in the exhibition and for sale at our reception desk. We are planning a release party in late March.
Every Building on North & South McDonough (2025)
Special thanks to the Forward Arts Foundation for supporting this project, especially the large versions, one of which is on view in the Dalton Gallery.
